Very nice sitting Awa (Tai Yai) bronze Buddha from Burma. This classical Buddha is sitting on a very large Throne with a nut in his right hand. His oval face has a serene expression, the hair is peppercorn styled and at the top rises the usnisa (flame) shaped as a stupa. The robe is very simple, only covering the left shoulder and the ears are going all the way down to the shoulders. The patina is dark with some greenish spots. The Buddha is in a excellent condition.

A similar Buddha is pictured in Myanmar Buddha by Somkiat Lopetcharat page 352.

Beautiful and classic Awa Buddha in bronze from Burma (Myanmar), dating to the 18th century. The figure is an excellent example of traditional Burmese craftsmanship.

This antique bronze Buddha statue is seated on a large two-part throne, giving it a balanced and harmonious presence.

The prominent usnisa (flame on top of the head) has a stupa-like form, a characteristic feature of the period.

The hair is rendered in small “peppercorn” curls, the elongated ears reach the shoulders, and the oval face features a notable distance between brows and eyes. The broad nose and subtle smile create a calm expression.

A distinctive feature is the nut held in the right hand, adding uniqueness to the figure.

The patina is dark with a greenish tone, enhancing depth and character.

The piece is in very fine condition and represents a high-quality example.

A comparable Buddha is illustrated in "Myanmar Buddha" by Somkiat Lopetcharat (page 352), supporting the authenticity and typology.

With a height of 47 cm, this is a large and impressive Buddha figure from Burma, ideal as a centerpiece.
