Monks
The history of Monks and Disciples is as old as the Buddha. Similarly to the Buddha they are also crafted in many different types of materials ranging from bronze, wood, lacquer to ivory and they are normally found in pairs and or part of a larger statue where the Buddha is the center and the monks are featured at the base paying respect. Through history some monks have attained fame and the statue will carry the name of the monk. Monks normally depict a humble expression and the craftsmanship is exquisite, some with mother of pearl eyes and nails. Due to the rarity, antique monks are to-day objects highly treasured by the discerning collector.
