Chinese boxes

These incredible beautiful wooden boxes are all made in elm or spruce. Covered with multiple layers of lacquer and wax we are still able to see the clear colors. The boxes were either used for storage purpose or just for decoration in wealthy homes. They originate mostly from the 19th cent and represent a lasting testimonial to the fine craftsmanship both in terms of decoration, design, precision and color use. They are all unique and made without the use of nails and screws. Many have perished due to the perils of nature and wear and tear due to the fragile materials.
